InstallationCondition Report
As you cannot see electricity, sometimes it is hard to know the condition of your electrical circuits within your home. Regular visual inspections should be carried out on any electrical items that are visible, this can be carried out by yourself, or a qualified electrician.
One of the leading causes of fires is faulty or old wiring, and this can be picked up with an EICR (Electrical Installation Condition Report.)
Each sector, or building type/use has a varying time scale for these reports to be completed. For example, a home that you live in should have one carried out every 10 years, if you are a landlord renting your propoerty out, this drops to 5 years.
EICR's are generally relatively quick and clean visits by your electrician, and a full certificate/report will be provided with any number of codes depicting what has been found (if anything), and how important it is to have these findings rectified. As an example, a Code 1 (C1) is something that is dangerous now and must be rectified at the immediately.
Here at PSV, we will discuss the EICR before we start as we generally try to rectify any smaller issues found as we find them, to keep the EICR light. However, these fixes will sometimes require additional materials that will be added to the end invoice.
If the findings start to mount up, and/or are too big to fix on the day, we are more than happy to book follow up appointments to carry out the remedial works.
