We routinely carry out the electrical work for the garden rooms by Solid Sheds North East. They are fantastic garden rooms of all shapes and sizes with multiple options for the electrical package.
They really are fit for any purpose.

The Corner Garden Room
Electrical 1st Fix
Once your base and shed have been erected, we will receive an appointment to visit you for the electrical 1st fix, this will see us run in or lay the cables necessary for your electrical fixtures.
The options are pretty much endless. Black Chrome is currently my favourite!
Have a good look through the booklets and emails to ensure you have chosen all the fixtures that you need/want, your last safe moment for adding any extras is pretty much when we visit for the 1st fix.
Extras can always be added at a later date, but this may cause some slight damage, or mess to the plaster/cladding.
Once the cables are in, we will take our photos and measurements, before leaving.

The Ultra Garden Room
Electrical 2nd fix
After we leave the 1st fix, the team will arrive to either plaster or clad the interior of your garden room, this will see the cables being buried within the wall. Don’t panic, as this is part of the process.
We will then cut out the holes for the fixtures, using our measurements from the 1st fix, and get everything connected up and mounted ready for your use in the garden room.
The supply Work
Once the garden room electrical package has been completed, we will then carry out the ‘supply’ works. The quote for this will be extra.
We will have a quick discussion about the day to day use of the garden room, and take in to account the fixtures that you have chosen, to then decide on the best route/plan for the supply and connection.
In most cases, we can run the power from your sockets circuit, using a 13Amp fuse spur, so the garden room and associated cables are sufficient and safe and offers you an isolation switch to hand.
Ideally, in a perfect world we would run the supply from the consumer unit, depending on its location and if there are any spare slots for MCB’s/RCBO’s This will allow the garden room to have a higher overall current rating. Floorboards may be lifted and walls chased for this supply run within the dwelling. Obviously, if you don’t wish to have the additional mess for this kind of supply work, we will revert back to the socket circuit mentioned above.
Finishing up.
Once the electrical installation and supply are complete, we will run through our electrical safety tests to ensure that everything is as expected and within spec for the various safety devices to function. A full certificate will be issued within 30 days of completion.
A thorough clean up will then take place before handing over your completed garden room for use.
Points to note.
As you are probably excited to get in and use your garden room (Understandably so) it is ill advised to paint the interior (If you have chosen the plastered option) before our 2nd fix visit. Unfortunately as we cut-out the holes for the cables and fixtures, some chipping ‘may’ occur around the edges. If these do occur, we will add a small amount of filler and smooth it over, which in itself will then require a small new paint job.
Also, we do love a coffee and a chat, so don’t be afraid to nip out and see how your garden room is coming along on any of our visits. If you don’t have coffee, don’t panic as we will have our own flask too 🙂
